Community Support Volunteer

You’ll be supporting the Communities Team by attending drop-ins and events or accompanying our mobile vehicle raising awareness of the work of Suffolk Family Carers.

What you’ll be doing:

• Attending drop-ins, either alone, with another volunteer or with our mobile vehicle and driver.
• Providing written resource material and signposting to our services where appropriate.
• Taking details of family carers seeking more in depth advice and support.

The team operates throughout Suffolk – locations will be local to you.
Around 12 hours per month, in line with regular events and drop-ins scheduled

This role suits you if you are: You are a confident individual who is comfortable working autonomously and taking initiative. You are approachable and empathetic, understand the need for confidentiality and commit to maintaining it. You have an understanding of the caring role and are able to cope with emotionally challenging conversations.

Support and shadowing opportunities are available and there is always someone available for advice, guidance and support when needed.

• Be provided with the necessary induction, training, equipment and reasonable adjustments to do this role well and safely
• Be offered expenses to cover agreed travel costs between home and place of volunteering.
• Regular support and supervision will be given.
