Suffolk Memory and Dementia Support

This service provides practical information and support for people who have memory concerns or a diagnosis of dementia, and their carers and operates from Shaftsbury’s base in Stowmarket.

It is the one place you can turn to, via their free helpline or website which offers information and support so that you only have to tell your story once, no matter what stage you are at. If you are a family carer worried about or supporting someone else with memory concerns or dementia they can help you.

Their trained memory and dementia advisors will listen, answer your questions and provide you with information tailored to your needs either on the telephone or through a home visit. They will also tell you about and help you access services and sources of help within your local community.

Who can use the service?

The service is available for anyone living in Suffolk excluding Waveney.  It provides support for people who are:

• With or without a formal diagnosis of dementia at any age or stage
• Awaiting a memory assessment.
• Caring for or supporting someone with memory concerns or dementia
• Worried about symptoms for themselves or someone else

What support is offered?

• A free helpline offering a single point of contact  
• Trained Dementia Advisors to listen, advise and help you find the support you need.
• Dedicated support for those diagnosed at an early age
• Introduction and signposting to other services that can help you
• Support to help you plan for the future
• Support for carers including carer assessments.
