We are very pleased to launch our ‘I am’ social action campaign. This is the initiative of our young carers in response to our Health Watch survey which was completed by almost 200 young people aged 11-18 across Suffolk who care for a family member. From the data we collated young carers chose to create a campaign which focuses on the worries young carers have around their body image and young carers self-esteem being lower than the national average. The I Am campaign is is part of the My Mental Health project for young and young adult carers in England, led and funded by Carers Trust.
So far our ‘I am’ campaign group have been involved in providing feedback regarding the Suffolk CYP Mental Health Transformation plans, they have contributed to the SFC wellbeing Advent Calendar and are currently in the design phase of creating videos to support young carers experiencing worries around their body image.
Our team will be in schools this week delivering our ‘I Am’ PSHE session and creating awareness of the importance of positive self-talk.
