To start off the Summer holidays respite activities in West Suffolk, Suffolk Family Carers was invited back to the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket for a screen printing workshop with Ricki Oultis.
The children started the day experiencing the museum, including exploring the new Horseplay exhibition which focusses on racing boardgames. After a competitive life-size interactive board game with foam die being thrown throughout the exhibit, the children met some of the resident horses, and enjoyed a lovely lunch provided by the Tack Room.
After lunch the crafts started, with Ricki showing the group how screen printing works. The children had to decide on their designs, and patiently draw and cut out all the intricate details, before using them to screenprint onto their t-shirts.
As you can see, we had a wonderful selection of different styles, from pepperoni pizza slices to styles inspired by the horses we had spent the day surrounded by!
