Many children have worries which makes them think about problems or fears which may then lead to them feeling scared or nervous. Feeling worried is completely normal and as a young carer children may have worries which are related to their caring role. Below we have a step by step activity on how to make your very own worry jar.

How to make a worry jar

What you will need:

  • Jar or a box this could be a shoe box or a Jar which you find in your kitchen
  • Glue or sellotape
  • Items to decorate your Jar/box this could include stickers, glitter, pens or paint
  • Paper
  • Pen

Instructions

  1. First you will need to choose your box or jar this could be something that is around your house like a pasta jar or a shoe box. If you choose a box you may want to seal the top of the box and then add a slit using the scissors where your worries can go. This could look like a letterbox.
  • Decorate the box this could be using glitter, pens, stickers or even paint. You may want to decorate it with pictures that make you happy or even just making it colourful.
  • Use the paper and pen to write down any worries that you may have these can be small or big worries this can be written down in words or by drawing pictures of what you are worried about.
  • Post your worries away in the box or jar you may also want to share them with an adult.
  • Finally find a home for your worry box or jar this could be in your bedroom.
