Earlier this week we held our first club of the year for ‘young carer’s year 8 and above from the Central Suffolk area’ – as you can tell it’s a very long winded way of explaining.
We thought it would be great to find out from the young carer’s what they thought. The topics under discussion were a new name for the group and ideas for future clubs/activities. We had a mixture of young carer’s new to the group and those that have been a few times.
After they had warmed up a little, they came up with some great and varied ideas. Some may take a bit of extra funding, others we can easily do.
Actions decided on:
- Club list – we needed a way to gather ideas for the music being played during club etc. So each week we will have a Theme of the Week, first one being “A song from the year you were born”. This will be posted every Friday in Instagram, with the songs being collated to a Young Carer’s playlist on Spotify. This is called SFC – Young Carers 2025
- A name. So this was a little harder, and some people didn’t mind. So for the time being we will just be called “The Club”. Open to other ideas.
- Next session – we have decided on a date, time and venue and we will be doing “Make Your Own Ultimate Milkshakes”. We will have a selection of sweet stuff, ice cream (dairy and non-dairy), and syrups. My daughter has told me that you also have to have Whipped Cream!!
- Moving forward at each club we will decide on the next one.
- Bigger activities like trips etc will need a little more planning.
