Picture this: a group of 11 primary-aged children, all young carers, gathered for a day of fun, frosting, and friendship. These children got a well-deserved break to indulge in some baking. It was a sprinkle-filled adventure from start to finish!
We kicked things off by letting the kids unleash their creativity on some cupcake boxes. Then, it was time to get down to the delicious stuff – baking! Our group whipped up a mix of scrumptious vanilla and chocolate cupcakes from scratch.
After all that hard work, it was lunchtime. And what’s on the menu – only the tastiest chicken wraps ever cooked by our budding chefs themselves!
But of course, the sweetest part of the day was yet to come. Armed with an array of colourful buttercream, fondant and sprinkles galore, the group let their imaginations run wild.
As the day came to a close, our young bakers proudly packed up their beautifully decorated cupcakes to take home.
A big thank you to Haverhill Town Council for opening the doors to the Haverhill Community Kitchen for us to use free of charge. This is such an amazing space, and would not have been possible at another location!
A day filled with laughter, learning, and lots and lots of cupcakes. It’s moments like these that remind us how a little bit of sweetness can go a long way, especially for these incredible young carers in our community.
