Rachel from the young carers team has been working with a variety of schools across the Stowmarket area to raise awareness around young carers and working with them to develop support for their young carers within their school.
Crawford primary is a new school which we have recently engaged with and they are working on their Schools Award and have nearly achieved Bronze from the hard work of Mrs Mason. The school have done this by raising awareness around the school by attending CPD sessions and by creating a Young Carers booklet to share information with families which are currently registered with Suffolk Family Carers.
Combs Ford and Woodley primary schools are currently offering School lunch clubs for their young carers and are continuously identifying young carers in which Suffolk Family Carers can support. One child from the Combs Ford Primary School said “ I really enjoy coming to young carers club as we have lots of fun”. Another Child said “I love going to the clubs outside of school as I have lots of friends there”.
