It was great to bring so many Young Carers from Lowestoft together during the February half term. Young Carers aged 5-12 years enjoyed exclusive access to the Adventure Island indoor soft play area. Being the sole users of the premises encouraged the participants to get to know each other which a something many of them want to do; to spend time with others who are in a similar situation to themselves. Rachel organised some team games (tag being the favourite) which helped the participants get to know each other and bring them together as a group. There were some tired Young Carers heading home after an hour of constant running and climbing.
The older age group had a go at Field Archery which is like paintballing only with bows and arrows! There was initial trepidation at the start for most as they feared being struck by an arrow. It wasn’t long before the ‘have a go’ attitude of the Young Carers came out, confidence grew and the competitive nature of some emerged.
