Young carers at Rushmere Hall Primary in Ipswich performed their own assembly all about young carers prior to being awarded their Gold Schools Award this morning.
The assembly looked at the different aspects of the life of a young carer but gave particular focus on the positive life skills that they gain from their caring roles.
Rushmere Hall have worked in partnership with Suffolk Family Carers for the past three years to ensure that the support they offer to their pupils is led by the young carers and the support what they say they need. The three years has allowed the young carer support to become embedded into the school community and has provided the opportunity for the school to be innovative in the support that they can offer.
