On the weekend of the 15th – 17th August 2025, we took 20 young carers on a weekend activity trip to PGL Bawdsey Manor adventure centre – this was generously funded again by the Felixstowe Rotary Club.
Our young carers all had a great time making new friends, trying new activities and learning new skills.
Day one – we met our young carers when they were dropped off at Bawdsey Manor by their parents, friends or guardians on the Friday lunch time – after a bag drop off and a quick lunch stop, we headed straight out for our afternoon activities which included Giant Swing, Archery and our evening activity was PGL Team games.
Day two – After quite a late night, we all surfaced and headed for breakfast – this was followed by a full day of activities including, Climbing, Survivor (forest skills) Canoeing, Aeroball and an evening Beach Walk along Bawdsey Shore and a visit from Nick Barber (President) and Malcolm Van Den Berg from the Felixstowe Rotary Club.
Day three – on our final morning, our young carers took part in the Zip Wire and Fencing (a lot of them for the first time) this was followed by lunch and then time to say goodbye as our young carers were picked up.
We would like to thank The Felixstowe Rotarians for their generous funding and continued support of our young people – without them we wouldn’t be able to offer this great experience!
