Suffolk Family Carers is excited and proud to announce a new employer support programme in partnership with Suffolk Council County.
The Caring Company Programme provides businesses the opportunity to celebrate their commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for family carers in the workplace. The options to reach bronze, silver and gold levels will enable businesses to embed an approach to enable family carers to feel valued, heard and connected.
The Caring Company Programme has been developed in response to the increase to over 41% of family carers leaving employment due to the physical, emotional and mental impact of juggling caring responsibilities with their career.
This, in turn, leaves gaps in knowledge and expertise in businesses that are expensive and time consuming to replace.
Retaining family carers in the workplace often brings with it valuable expertise. The addition of loyalty and transferable skills such as good time management, effective organisation, compassion and problem solving are very sought after skills in an employee.
Through the Caring Company programme, we aim to build on the caring and supportive culture of Suffolk businesses to celebrate and recognise those organisations committed to making a positive difference for family carers in the workplace
