Thank you for contacting Suffolk Family Carers. Firstly, if you become unwell and your symptoms worry you, please contact your GP practice or call 111 to discuss your concerns.
We have a couple of suggestions which could be of assistance if you were to become unwell.
We recommend that you have a written contingency plan involving family and friends who you can call upon if you become unwell. This could include useful Information such as GP contact details, a medication list, any friends or family members that should be informed, and a brief outline of the support that you normally provide.
We can also help you complete a Family Carer Emergency Plan, which is held securely by the County Council. You can nominate up to 3 people who are able to support the person you care for. If you can’t think of anyone, then it is important that this is recorded too.
In return, you’ll receive a card/key fob with a unique reference number – in a medical emergency, the number is given to Customer First, who will activate the plan, call your chosen contacts and ensure care needs are met.
