In June we had the pleasure of using Haverhill’s Community Kitchen for a group of our young carers to host a ‘Cook with Us’ session. It was great to see the kitchen well-stocked with utensils and crockery which was super helpful in teaching the children not only how to use the appliances, but also general Food Hygiene Safety for example; which chopping board belonged to each food category.
The group split themselves up into pairs and together we made Chicken and Veggie Chicken Wraps with homemade potato salad and garnish. The young carers loved cooking from scratch with most of them mentioning that they had never tried a chicken wrap before!
Top marks all round when it came to eating together and scoring our creations, with all saying they’d eat it again (win!)
This was a superb activity which brought new friendships and positive sibling time together, we loved using this space and can’t wait to host another activity soon!
With special thanks to Lisa and Colin,
