It is very common that when someone asks you who or what is important to you it is difficult to think of a response.
Knowing who or what is important to us is really useful, especially at times when things may be difficult.
You can try this Desert Island Dilemma activity in one of three different ways:
Drawing a desert island.
Creating an island using playdough
Creating an island using junk modelling.
First of all create your island. There is no right or wrong to how it looks. It’s your island so you decide.
Now imagine you are on the island. There is no electricity but enough food and shelter for you to survive for two weeks. No one else is on the island.
Dilemma number 1: What will you do to keep you occupied when on the island? Remember, there is no electricity. Will you swim in the sea, climb a tree, day dream? You decide.
Dilemma number 2: As a special treat you are allowed to request one luxury item to be sent to the island. It must be something you already own. What will you choose and why?
Dilemma number 3: You are allowed one visitor to your island. Who would you like to invite? Now think about why? How do you feel when you are with them?
Now think about your answers. During this short activity you have identified an activity you enjoy that can be done on your own and you must enjoy it or you wouldn’t of chose it.
What was your luxury item? Why did you choose it? Remember this item if you are ever feeling a bit low or something has upset you as it is clearly important to you.
Finally, who was your visitor? This person must make you feel good so remember to call on them if you ever need to.
