This dementia action week there is a a drop-in style event being facilitated by the Suffolk Dementia Action Partnership and Care Development East.

The event will showcase the wide range of information, advice and support available to people living with dementia and their carers in Suffolk, to help people get the right support, from the right people, at the right time.
There will be a marketplace of stalls from organisations and groups supporting people living with dementia and their carers within Suffolk. Alongside this there will be sessions covering how to live well with dementia from those with lived experience, memory assessment and the importance of a timely diagnosis.
Living Well with Dementia – 10:30am and 1:20pm Peter Berry and Deb Bunt authors of “Slow Puncture: Living Well with Dementia”.
Getting help with memory concerns – 11:00am and 1:50pm Melanie D’Ardis, Suffolk Community Memory Assessment Service and Debbie Foster, Alzheimer’s Society, Suffolk Dementia Connect.
Recognising and supporting carers – 11:50am and 2:20pm Debbie Reeve, Suffolk Family Carers.
Keeping safe – 12:20pm and 2:50pm by TBC
SPECAL approach to dementia care – 12:50pm and 3:20pm Nicola Bradford, Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance.
There will also be an opportunity for people to hear about the development of a countywide dementia strategy for Suffolk and to inform this by providing feedback on experiences, needs and what matters most.
The event will include supervised activities for people with dementia while a range of talks take place. This will include a designated ‘Quiet Room’ under a facilitated environment with activities for people with dementia to allow their carers time to look at the stalls and attend the presentations.
Parking: Ample free parking is available close to the Conference and Event Centre including Disabled Parking and will be clearly signposted on arrival at the venue. A shuttle bus will also be running from the car park to the venue throughout the day, to support those in need of mobility support.
