Parent and Child Roller skating at Curve motion
On Friday 23rd October we made the most of our bubble of six allowance and headed to Curve Motion for some fun on the rink! Parents and their children skated together sharing laughter, some bruises (ouch!) but nonetheless great memories.
One young carer stated ‘’I’ve never skated before, but we think we are going to come again as a family’’
Sheree their adviser commented ‘’It was really lovely to see friendships forming and the family members supporting one another to skate. I made ‘emergency packs’ for the parents in case they chose to sit and watch but both families chose to skate or did a fab job at encouraging everyone.
In times like these it feels guilty to have a laugh and a giggle but there was a real natural feel to the family’s laughter, I felt privilege to share their day with them and thank everyone for attending’’
What is it like skating with a mask on?
You forget you’re even wearing one because you are having so much fun! You are allowed to take breaks at the table to take it off if you get a little hot though

Curve motion’s policy is 6 people following the 2m distancing rule
Do they have music play?
We had music playing as part of our package it can be included or you can choose to add it on. We definitely loved having it on in the background turning out skating into dancing!
I have never skated before I am not sure I would like this activity
Whilst skating isn’t for everyone, our young carers are an example of ‘practise makes perfect’ They too started on the rink very nervous and held onto the support poles around the edge! But by the end of the session they were able to skate without the pole, it really does just take practise and the courage to try.
We’d like to thank curve motion for accommodating us and offering our families the chance to add a bit of fun to their day. And to the families who embraced their falls and carried on like true skating warriors, you were professionals by the end of it!
