On 4th June, we had the pleasure of joining Anglia Care Trust, Family First, Ipswich Museum, National Trust Sutton Hoo, and Suffolk Archives at Christchurch Mansion to celebrate our incredible volunteers. The event brought together around 80 volunteers from all six organisations for an afternoon of refreshments, engaging conversations, and fun activities.
Volunteers enjoyed a wellbeing walk through the picturesque Christchurch Park, explored the Mansion’s attics for a behind-the-scenes experience, and discovered traditional butter-making techniques from the Mansion’s historic past. It was a great occasion where volunteers connected with other organisations and shared their experiences.
This celebration was part of Volunteers Week, an annual campaign that has been running for over 40 years. The week is dedicated to recognising and appreciating the invaluable contributions of volunteers across the UK. It highlights the diversity, unity, and impact of volunteer work in our communities.
Heather Venables, Volunteer Development Manager, shared:
“It’s a privilege to work with such wonderful volunteers who dedicate so much of their time to help us support family carers across Suffolk. Without their contributions, we wouldn’t be able to reach as many people as we do.”
Collectively, volunteers from the six participating organisations contributed an impressive 67,900 hours over the past year – demonstrating just how vital their time and commitment are to our work.
If you’re inspired to get involved, we’d love to hear from you!
