What To Do In An Emergency

If the person you care for is seriously ill, or has a life-threatening emergency, CALL 999. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of consciousness, acute confused state, fits that are not stopping, severe chest pain, breathing difficulties, severe bleeding, severe allergic reactions or severe burns.

Violence – If the person you care for turns violent, or you feel threatened, CALL 999. If you feel safe in your environment, call Adult Community Services at Suffolk County Council and explain the situation.

Feeling Extremely Anxious – If you are feeling extremely anxious, frightened and need to talk to someone now, call the Samaritans on 116 123.

In a Crisis Yourself – If you feel you are at crisis point in your caring role, and unable to cope, call Adult Community Services at Suffolk County Council and explain the situation.

Caring for someone with Mental Health Issues – If there is a crisis situation, call the Mental Health Access and Assessment Team.

Help With Dementia – Dementia Together provides practical information and support for people living with dementia, their carers and healthcare professional in Suffolk. Call Free: 0333 150 3456. Telephone support is available from: Mon – Wed: 9am – 8pm, Thur – Fri: 9am – 5pm, Sat – Sun: 10am – 4pm
