BeatSyndicate Programme
Since November we have been working with our fab friends at Noise Solution to deliver wellbeing sessions to female carers aged 14-24. So far we have run some really fun group sessions in Bury and Lowestoft, and we started running groups in 3 schools which we’ve had to stop for now. We have also been able to offer some 1:1 sessions as well, and these are still happening ‘virtually’ rather than face to face.
“What is BeatSyndicate?” I hear you ask. Well, its 10 weeks of sessions for 2 hours a week. Working with a musician, using digital kit to create some really good music! No experience is necessary, anyone can do it!
Here’s what some of the YACs who’ve taken part had to say:
“When we all got to know each other we just sort of clicked. We’re now a good bunch of friends who are all there for each other.”

“Well I have been doing Noise Solution for a couple of months now and it is amazing and I love every session. The sessions have made me feel really happy and my tutor Ian is a really kind and funny man who makes me feel really comfortable in what I’m learning, so over the past couple of months he has taught me the basics on the piano and chord progressions, and I had to come up with my own which I did. Now we are using a music mixing app to make a song with chords I am up with and it is so much fun coming up with different sounds and what goes with what. Noise Solution is something I look forward to every week now and having someone like Ian who understands the situation makes it so much better.”

“I really enjoyed Noise Solution because it encouraged my creativity and that of others in a different way that I had never really pursued before. It also helped build my confidence.”

Hello, well at the beginning I was very scared and anxious about going to the session because I am not very good around new people, this is because of my anxiety. I was very shy at the beginning as I didn’t know anyone at all when I joined. That was a big step for me on its own but I have overcome so much while going to these sessions. I learnt more stuff about music than what I already knew as I do a music course at college. It was hard at first as I was so used to using a computer than an iPad but it was actually a lot easier than what I thought. I made new friends even though I was very scared at the beginning. I overcome my fear of meeting new people. I started off very shy and then after a few sessions I was able to sing out loud to everyone there. Everyone was so nice and no one judged me everyone cheered for me. No one forced me into singing or anything I felt comfortable enough to sing in front of them and I did and it felt great. The sessions are so calm and relaxing I even got a hot chocolate what couldn’t be better than a hot chocolate they are the best. One time I even got into a taxi for the first time by myself to get to the sessions and I had never done that before it. It felt like the scariest thing in my life but I done it on my own and when I got to my sessions I got so many well dones for doing it. Even though is felt like the smallest thing to me everyone was so proud that I done it on my own. Everyone was so welcoming when I went and I believe that the sessions are great for everyone because it help me so much overcome so many fears of mine that I had and I believe I have come out such a better person than what I was when I first started. Having this opportunity was great and I thank everyone who helped me and came along and cared about me while I was there. I am still friends with the people that was there with me and it’s great, I have had so many great memories there and I hope to carry it on and help other people in the future.
We look forward to working face to face with the Noise Solution musicians again soon!
