Thank you so much to Wooden Roots for providing African Drumming workshops to young carers in the Ipswich area.
During the month of July, the group have been meeting each Saturday at the Ipswich Museum to learn about the instruments and the power of playing as a group.
The instructors were so inspiring and welcoming that all participants (young carer staff included) could not help leaving each session smiling and with a sense of accomplishment.
“I’ve loved it all” said Lily when asked what the best bit was, Wilhem agreed and said he wished the sessions would continue.

The Wooden Roots Team will be at The Christchurch Mansion for 11 dates between June 26th and October 24th 2021. We kick off however at the Summer Market in Ipswich on June 20th.
On all of these dates we will be running short & extremely fun introduction to West African Drumming sessions and all throughout the day!
We invite you to come along to our tent and find out more about The Wooden Roots Story and our connection with Marvel & The Black Panther movie. You can then learn all about the Djembe (Jem-Bay) and we will teach you to play a simple rhythm.
