Family carers across Suffolk are invited to attend a free, in-person session designed to help them better understand dementia and feel more confident in their caring role.
Understanding Dementia Better, led by the award-winning charity Dementia Adventure, will take place on Monday, 14 July 2025, from 1:00pm. This special event is being held in person – a great opportunity to speak to experts on dementia, also to meet and learn from other people in similar situations to you. These sessions are typically delivered online.
The session is tailored specifically for family carers of someone living with dementia. It offers practical guidance, emotional support, and expert insight into how dementia affects individuals and families. Attendees will learn how to:
- See the person, not the condition
- Improve communication and connection
- Create a more dementia-friendly environment
- Access further support and resources
Hayley Hancock, Deputy CEO of Suffolk Family Carers, said: “We know how overwhelming it can be to care for someone with dementia. This session is about giving family carers the tools, understanding and confidence they need to feel less alone and more empowered in their role. We’re thrilled to be able to host Dementia Adventure to bring this valuable training to family carers in person.”
