A few weeks ago I was luckily enough to host a small gather of young carers at the Shuffle Board game café in Bury St Edmunds.
It’s a great venue, and for a small cost per person you spend a few hours chatting, talking and playing board games. They have a huge choice to choose from, ranging from quick card games to longer more complicated games.

Our group spilt themselves in between the two tables, one group playing 3 -4 different games during the evening, and the table I was on playing Risk.
For those that don’t know the game is a turn based take over the world game. You have to defend your counties and attack others. The more countries and ultimately continents you have the, the stronger you become.
None of us had been there before, but we all said we would definitely go back. The young people were able to relax and have fun, whilst not being put on the spot or feel they had to make small talk.
If you are a registered Young carers or Young Adult Carer aged 11+ and interested in attending the next session please email hello@suffolkfamilycarers.org and we can add you name to a list.
Thanks to all at the Café. Check out their website for more information about what they do
