Being able to swim is a life skill. Talking to young carers it was noticed that many young carers are unable to swim due to various reasons. For some families, being able to go swimming is an impossibility. Funding was obtained and we arranged 5 sessions of swimming lessons in Ipswich with an extremely caring and patient swimming instructor, Julie. All children were nervous at the first session, a couple were terrified! The confidence they gained over the 5 sessions was fantastic to see, and the children were disappointed that our sessions came to an end. Receiving their certificates was a proud moment for them.
Two children have continued with swimming lessons independently. Some are now able to swim with confidence!
