Thorpe Woodlands – Thanks to Poppy

The children had not met each other before the day but in true young carers style they welcomed each other and soon became a very supportive and friendly group.

When Jayden was nervous to take the initial jump on from the high tower he was encouraged by his peers waiting on the ground and made his leap following words of encouragement “We know you can do it, you’re brilliant”.

When trying to conquer the climbing walls the participants helped each other by sharing top tips about best foot and hand holds.  They also took turns working in pairs to feed the rope to ensure a safe ascent and descent for the climbers.  Sam and Carla in particular found climbing skills they never knew they had.

The Archery saw the competitive side of the children come through.  The instructors combined a good level of skill development with Archery based challenges.

“Archery was my favourite activity today because it was really fun and I was better than I thought I would be at it”.

We assumed the minibus journey home would be quiet after all the activities and fresh air but instead we were sang to in between chattering and laughter.

A brilliant group and a brilliant day.
