We completed our first ever camping evening with 11 Young Carers aged between 13-15yrs on Friday 2nd August at Claydon. Upon arrival they had a go at putting up their tents and soon made friends by helping one another. The group was split into two teams and they made their dinner with ingredients set out like Ready Steady Cook (too old for their memories!) The food was edible (phew) and duties well shared.
After dinner we all enjoyed a sunset walk around Claydon and collected kindling for their fires which soon led onto toasting marshmallows and making smores. We wound down the evening with Guardians of the Galaxy and hot chocs ready for our morning together…
After a late night gossiping and an early morning breakfast it was time to have our walking boots at the ready. We collected the bus from Claydon to Ipswich and went swimming with inflatables.
We all had a lovely time and can’t wait to start planning our next one.
A super thank-you from Sheree and Jess to the Young Carers who came, you were all a fantastic bunch and made our weekend!
