‘Where words fail, Music Speaks’

Hey we have had a request from a young carer called Olivia, who has asked for info/activities for anything to do with music, and also doing music online.

There is so much stuff out there, it’s hard to know where to start. Firstly, let’s have a think about those artists etc that inspire you, you like to listen to, or that you have decided because of them you want to learn an instrument or sing. To start with check out their websites, or if you have an adult or older sibling with you look on their social media. So many are posting ‘lock down’ shows’ or stream live chats etc. I don’t know what sort of music you are into but for instance an artist called Machine Gun Kelly, is on his 18 Lockdown session, and has even recorded an oasis song with Yungblud, Bruno mars and Camila Cabello have posted some stuff, and also the lead singer from Biffy Clyro does a weekly acoustic session.   These might not be the people you listen to, but it’s just an example of what’s out there.

If learning how to play, sing etc is more your thing then again there is a lot out there. There is of course Youtube, which has numerous ‘how to’ videos from stars or music teachers. Then there our companies who run online courses offering free intro sessions (there is a cost afterwards though), for instance Fender (they make guitars, gave 3 months free to the first 100,000 subscribers to their online course).

I am also posting a music challenge, this is from the BBC website called Bring the Noise’. It’s the I am a Robot challenge. If you or any young person wants to take part, click on the link and go for it. If you also want us to post your videos just email them to hello@suffolkfamilycarers.org for the attention of Keiron.

You never know we might even have some staff members willing to take part and show off.

The website has so many other different resources etc so might be cool to check out.

Lastly, if you need support finding specific information about online instructors, etc just get in contact. We might not know straight away, but maybe able to point you in the right direction.

On a personal note, I have and will always be a wanna-be rock god, for years I have said I will learn the guitar, who knows 2020 might just be the year.

For those about to Rock, we salute you!!

Leaving so soon?

We hope you found what you were looking for, however,
if you didn’t we’d like to still offer you some support.
Please let us know how we can help.
