Thank you so much to the Ipswich East Rotarians whose generous donation enabled us to host our first in person, much deserved respite activity of 2021. We have loved spending time with young carers across the county via online video activities but there were smiles all round as young carers got to spend time in person with each other once again.
Young carers tell us that they value our respite support because it enables them to have time away from their caring role but most importantly, they get to meet other children and young people that they know have the shared feelings and experiences that they do.
It was a pleasure to see young carers who have been with our service for some time be so friendly and welcoming to new participants who were understandably a little unsure at first.
Old friendships were rekindled and the start of new friendships were formed both between young carers and among parents who had chosen to stay and watch.
The activity was very well organised by the Ipswich Ski Centre and all participants felt comfortable with the restrictions that were in place to ensure COVID guidelines were followed.
