20 young carers enjoyed a special buffet arranged by Mrs O’Beirne and Miss Fox on Young Carers Awareness Day. It was lovely to see so many young carers in one room socialising with one another. We would like to take the time to thank our young carer leads who continue to support the young carers with such dedication and care. There is a clear sense of community at TGS and it is all thanks to the staff who continue to prioritise young carers needs within the school. TGS are currently awarded Gold on our Schools award, but are small steps away achieving Platinum. We are very proud of how far TGS have come and the strong level of partnership working they continue to have with our adviser.
It can often feel like you’re alone as a young carer, this is why having school support like this is so important to support young carers in feeling less isolated. We hope that the lunch has impacted further friendships to be made outside of school at the local Young Carers club in Sudbury.
