Parent Carer Workshops Volunteer
You’ll be supporting our Neurodevelopmental Differences project team to deliver workshops to parent carers. The workshops, run by our trained facilitators, offer useful information and strategies to parent carers and family members who live with a child or young person who is autistic or has ADHD.
What you’ll be doing:
- Helping the facilitator to set up the room for the workshop and tidying away at the end.
- Welcoming participants and offering refreshments on arrival and at break times.
- Promoting an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone has a chance to participate.
- Supporting the facilitator as necessary throughout the session.
Ipswich, Claydon or Bury St Edmunds – you do not need to be able to cover all three locations.
3 hours per week in four or six week blocks

This role suits you if you are: Reliable, punctual and ideally, you will have experience as a parent carer of a child or young person with an additional need. You have a positive attitude, wanting to encourage other parent carers.
You are able to maintain professional boundaries, ensuring that your own lived experience is only shared when relevant and useful to course participants and with the permission of the facilitator. You’re non-judgemental, understand the need for confidentiality, and are committed to maintaining it.

What we can offer you: We want all our volunteers to feel welcome and to have an equally positive experience when volunteering with us. So, volunteers will:
- Be provided with the necessary induction, training, equipment and reasonable adjustments to do this role well and safely
- Be offered expenses to cover agreed travel costs between home and place of volunteering.
- Regular support and supervision will be given.

Suffolk Family Carers are committed to ensuring all individuals are aware of their role in safeguarding and appropriate training will be provided and must be completed by all Talk and Support telephone supporters.
