On Tuesday 20th August we had the privilege of awarding Christian Appleford (Family Carer) with a Golf Voucher to spend at Rushmere Golf Club. Christian was put forward by his daughter Chloe Appleford in a competition held publicly to win a voucher with Rushmere Golf Club. We asked participants to put forward their proposed family carer and describe to us why they think their family carer deserves to win the voucher. We were taken back by our responses but had to choose one winner! The winner was chosen by a panel of judges who felt Chloe captured her father’s daily routines and demands very well.
Here’s Chloe’s entry:
My dad, Christian, is a primary carer for my little sister, who has severe autism and a learning disability. She requires a lot of personal care, such as wearing a nappy which he changes every morning, usually being one of the first thing he does every morning. He never complains and is always very patient with my sister even when she can become aggressive and angry as a reaction to slight changes in her routine.
Being a PE teacher, my dad really loves sports but rarely gets to play anything himself with what little time he has left between juggling his job and caring for my little sister, and I think he would love the chance to get out and enjoy himself for a few hours.
Thank-you to all those who entered our competition it was very hard to choose one winner as we appreciate you all do a fantastic job. Keep your eyes peeled on our Social media and website for upcoming events, news and future competitions!
