This year Carers week will be taking place between 9th & 15th of June with a theme of 'Caring About Equality', calling for an equal society where carers are truly valued, recognised and supported
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
We will again be acting as the co-ordinator for Carers Week across Suffolk in 2025. We work with a wide range of charities and partners to recognise and celebrate the important contribution made by Suffolk’s estimated 65,000 carers.
The theme of ‘Caring About Equality’ is calling for an equal society where family carers are truly valued, recognised and supported. Each day of Carers Week will have a specific focus and highlight the different ways inequality impacts carers’ lives:
- Monday: Health and social care
- Tuesday: Financial wellbeing
- Wednesday: Work and employment
- Thursday: Younger carers
- Friday: Older carers
- Saturday: Mental health and wellbeing
- Sunday: Reflections on Carers Week
As ever the campaign will be brought to life by the thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to provide support for carers, run activities, highlight the vital role carers play in our communities and draw attention to just how important caring is.
