Carers Rights Day

We are helping to demystify issues of carers rights

Each year  Carers Rights Day is held to bring organisations across the UK together to help carers in their local community know their rights and find out how to get the help and support they are entitled to.

We are this week releasing a video collaboration with health professionals and company managers, to help thousands across the region understand more about the rights of the un paid carer.

To coincide with Carers’ Rights Day, which falls this FRIDAY 30th NOVEMBER, we are unveiling a videoed ‘Quiz Show’ which features a panel of professionals and health experts discussing the realities of a caring role.

Those involved in the collaboration include professionals from UK Power Networks and Suffolk County Council, a county-based GP, a hospital nurse consultant, and a young carers college representative, as well as individuals from Suffolk Family Carers.

The video, which is available above or on our YouTube Channel explores some of the top questions asked by the community of around 88,000 carers across Suffolk.

Kirsten Alderson, Chief Executive, from Suffolk Family Carers said; “We felt it was really important to share this insight and help more people understand what the rights of a carer are.

“It can be an enormously baffling world for anyone who finds themselves picking up a caring responsibility, so this collaboration has helped us separate fact from fiction in a fun and easy to understand way.”

We will be out and about across Suffolk on Friday, to mark the awareness day, and to highlight our latest video project.
