Bolters at the Ready – review of the year 2021

What do I say!!! This year has brought a few hurdles to the club, some new members, new battle boards and a trip to Warhammer World.

It’s been great that we have been able to run face to face clubs again, and for the first part of the year these were run in Kesgrave.  We now run them at our offices in Claydon, which being selfish is a little easier.  I can store all the resources we have there, and don’t have to have them filling up my boot!

At the club you can take part in epic battles, paint and build miniatures, learn the rules and if you interested our young volunteer will tell you about the lore of Warhammer 40K. Recently one of our young carers has become Dungeon Master for a new D & D campaign.

If you ask the club members the highlight this year has been a trip to Warhammer World in Nottingham. The trip took a good 3 hours, but those that went would tell you it was worth it.  Most spent time in the shop, some battled, some painted, but everyone said the exhibition (free to groups) was outstanding.  Unfortunately no one found the hidden assassin model hidden in the final diorama, it did have a few thousand miniatures so no surprises there.

We are lucky to be part of the Warhammer Alliance, run by Games Workshop, who provide yearly resources and this year gave us the opportunity to pick up some second hand plastic battle boards from our local store in Ipswich, thanks Geoff (manager of the store).

To round off this club wouldn’t be possible without support from my colleagues and manager, our Young Adult Carer volunteer, and some amazing fundraising from one of our club member’s parents.

Of course without its energetic and enthusiastic members, we would have stopped running months ago.

Thank you to everyone, and May the Emperor protect.

See you in 2022, and if you wish to be part of this drop us a line:
