Are you a good listener and can spare an hour each week?
At Suffolk Family Carers we are always looking for volunteers to join us, so we can continue to support more family carers across Suffolk. Due to the current situation we can only recruiting Talk&Support volunteers to help out on our telephone befriending service, this is a hugely rewarding role and it makes the family carers feel that they are always supported.
This service provides friendly telephone support and a listening ear for a family carer who is isolated or who has a particularly difficult caring role. The role requires a commitment to phone a family carer once a week at a mutually convenient time. You may come from any walk of life and should be positive, reliable, a good listener, interested, approachable, non-judgmental and realistic. A desire to engage with family carers and understand the issues they face can be just as important.
We offer comprehensive Induction Training that all volunteers must attend. Other optional training workshops will be offered throughout the year. The cost of telephone calls and travelling costs to attend training will be reimbursed. Volunteers also have access to attractive volunteer benefits that include discounted gym membership and cinema tickets.
