Congratulations to Alde Valley Academy on achieving the High School Gold Award!
Mrs Dawes and Ms Laker have worked incredibly hard to support the young carers in their academy, and this award is a true reflection of their dedication.
In recent months, the young carers have enjoyed great success with a special project: creating their own recipe book filled with favourite dishes. They have been testing the recipes and sharing the meals together, which has been a wonderful way to build connection and confidence. More recently, they have also begun designing their own board games.
Mrs Dawes and one of the young carers recently attended one of our network meetings to talk about the fantastic support available at the academy. The young carer spoke particularly about how much the support has grown since Mrs Dawes became the Young Carer Lead.
