In August we took a group of 15 young carers to X-Adventure residential centre in Norfolk. We had a lovely time taking part in lots of different activities which used a mix of teamwork and pushed the young carers out of their comfort zone to be able to complete the tasks.
We did crate stacking, archery, axe throwing, crate staking, built fires, built trebuchets and zip lined over a lake. They also worked together to build rafts and then race them on the lake.
The funniest activity was the egg drop.
The young carers had to create something that would protect their egg from being dropped from the top of the zip line tower! They were not given many materials to protect their eggs! One egg didn’t even make it to the tower before it broke and sadly, none of the eggs survived the drop!
They were a lovely group, and they had a great time together. Most importantly they all had a break from their caring role. We are grateful to HAF for funding this residential.
