About Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm

Nestled in the lush beauty of the Suffolk countryside, Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm is the perfect destination for a memorable family day out. Their working livestock farm specialises in native breeds that were once common but are now very rare. It’s a fantastic opportunity for family carers, children and adults alike to connect with nature and learn about these unique animals.

What to Expect

  • Meet the Animals: Get up close and personal with friendly pigs, goats, sheep, and more. The rare breeds are sure to delight visitors of all ages.
  • Fun Activities: Children can enjoy the play area while adults relax in the serene surroundings. Explore the woods, enjoy a picnic by the mere, or take part in the seasonal events.
  • Delicious Refreshments: There is a well-stocked café with freshly made soup, rolls, and homemade cakes. On summer weekends, there is also enjoy a BBQ featuring the farms own produce.

Seasonal Events:

  • Lamb Cuddling: Join them during February half-term and Easter for the popular lamb cuddling events. Get hands-on with adorable lambs and enjoy other animal encounters.
  • Festival of the Naked Sheep: Celebrate in May as they shear their sheep. Watch spinning demonstrations and participate in fleece folding.
  • Spooky Spectacular: In October, enjoy the indoor pumpkin patch, games, and animal encounters. Don’t miss the wood-fired pizza oven in action.
  • Farmer Christmas: In December, meet Farmer Christmas and enjoy festive animal encounters and a BBQ in the Cattleyard Kitchen.

Accessibility

Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm is committed to providing an enjoyable experience for all visitors. The majority of the walkways are wheelchair-friendly, ensuring easy access throughout the farm. They also have a disabled toilet in the Visitors’ Centre, with a disabled badge parking area right outside the door

Reserving our pass

Our day passes are available FREE to all registered family carers. As Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm is not open all year please check opening days before making your request as these vary depending on season

Once we have received your request to reserve our pass for a day it will be reviewed by one of our staff who will then send you a confirmation email, along with further details on how to use the pass. Your request has not been approved until you have received this confirmation email. Other reservation requests cannot be submitted for your chosen date whilst this review is taking place. When completing your request please enter the names of all additional guests that will be visiting with you. This is to ensure that the correct guest pass are available for you

Please note that due to demand for these passes we are not able to accept multiple requests to use within the same year. If you are unable to attend please ensure you cancel your visit using the link provided when making your reservation request. This is to ensure the pass is made available for other family carers to use, and also avoid disappointment when attempting to rebook.
