Remembering Councillor Caroline Page

We are saddened to learn that Councillor Caroline Page passed away last night, following a battle with cancer.

We will remember Councillor Page, who had herself been a family carer, as an advocate for family carers across Suffolk throughout her time on the Council.

During 2021 she said a plan to help support the tens of thousands of family carers in Suffolk is “utterly essential”, and was a firm supporter of the creation of Suffolk’s first All Age Carer Strategy.

Before this she proposed to Suffolk County Council that an “all unpaid carers opt-in“ database be created to ensure family carers get the help and visibility they need. This proposal was supported by Suffolk Conservatives and it was passed “by general acclamation” by all of Suffolk County Council. This database is now administered by Suffolk Family Carers to help all family carers in Suffolk, and was created with a view to make Suffolk a national beacon of good practice.

We send our condolences to Councillor Page’s family and friends.
