Employers & Businesses
Good businesses need good people and there has never been a better time to focus on the benefits of retaining skilled workers. By supporting your employees to work healthily and productively whilst caring you can reduce the costs of recruiting and training new staff.
Suffolk Family Carers can help you support and retain your employees
- We have practical advice and support for employers seeking to develop carer friendly policies and practices.
- We have resources to promote the business benefits of supporting carers in the workplace.
- Our Advisers can provide advice and information to carers within your organisation to support them in their caring role.
- We can put family carers in touch will their local peer support group and organise respite activities so that they get a break from their caring role and an opportunity to socialize.
- We run a range of workshops and courses such as Caring with Confidence, Wellbeing for Me and The Autism and ADHD family carer course.
If you are an employer and what to find out more or arrange a meeting with us please contact us.
1 in 7 in your workforce will be caring for someone who is older, disabled or seriously ill. In the current economic climate it is an important time to retain skilled workers rather than recruiting and retraining new staff.
Family Carer Champions
If you would like to raise awareness of the valuable work that family carers undertake and reduce the number of isolated carers across Suffolk you can you help us improve the lives of carers.
Carer Champions are a point of contact within their organisation or in their area of work, who help identify and support carers. They recognise family carers in the workplace and provide them with useful information, so potential carers can access the help and support they need.
Being a Champion is a voluntary commitment that is undertaken alongside your working role. There are key activities that are associated with being a Carers Champion:
- Acting as key point of contact in your organisation for carers to speak to
- Raising awareness of carers resources and Suffolk Family Carers
Carers Champions have an understanding of the issues faced by family carers, an understanding/ and or interest in mental wellbeing and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Good interpersonal skills, being approachable and non-judgemental and a good listener also help.
If you are interested in becoming a Family Carer Champion, please contact us and we will be in touch.
