This programme, which has been funded through Tesco Bags of Help scheme, is specifically for family carers living in Haverhill and will provide an opportunity for you to meet with others in a similar situation living locally to you.
However dedicated we are to caring for our loved ones, being a family carer can sometimes be stressful. Sometimes it can feel like a juggling act we’re just not trained for. Communicating with Doctors/other professionals can feel frustrating & unproductive. Talking to the person you care for or others about a difficult subject can feel daunting.
The sessions will explore how stress affects us and some tips for coping with it. Bring along your favourite edible treat and find out how eating chocolate can help cope with stress! We will explore the practical problems and challenges of day to day caring and identify changes to manage these. You will have an opportunity to step back and consider how you can balance your caring commitments with the other things in life which are important to you. The sessions will also help you develop techniques for planning how you ask for what you need and increase your chances of getting it.
The sessions will take place online via MS teams on the following dates and times:
- Wednesday 9th June, 1.30pm – 3pm
- Wednesday 16th June, 1.30pm – 3pm
- Wednesday 23rd June, 1.30pm – 3pm
To book your place or for more information, please telephone 07557 065474 or email supportprogrammes@suffolkfamilycarers.org. Once booked, we will send you confirmation of your place with full instructions on how to access the sessions using MS Teams. A training session can also be organised if you require further help.
Please note that places are limited and must be booked in advance.
