An Interview with Hannah

Meet Hannah, Suffolk Family Carers Youngest Trustee

Hannah has a passion for helping others and working in the public or voluntary sectors. In particular, she is passionate about young people who are in care or are care experienced.  On joining the Trustee board Hannah very quickly understood the massive reach and impact of Suffolk Family Carers, and has enjoyed being part of such a great organisation.

The Suffolk Young Trustee Programme

Hannah became a trustee through the Suffolk Young Trustee Programme organised by Community Action Suffolk which connects motivated young people with voluntary organisations, looking to welcome a young trustee onto their trustee board:

The average trustee in England and Wales is 59 years old, and 55 in Northern Ireland! The Young Leadership Project aims to bridge the gap between trustees, organisations and young people. Young people are our future charity leaders.

  •  The Suffolk Young Trustee Programme lasts for one year
  •  Young people can become a Shadowing Trustee (non-voting) or Young Trustee
  • Organisations will be part of the recruitment process of young people, supported by Community Action Suffolk
  • A charity trustee will mentor the young trustee
  • Community Action Suffolk will offer free ‘Get on Board’ training for young people.
