To our amazing young carers and families,
I am writing to you all to update you on where we are at as a service and the support we are currently able to provide in line with COVID guidance as of September 22nd 2020.
Since the start of the school term, Advisors have been able to complete assessments and 1-1 interventions in schools across the county where individual school guidance allows. When it is not possible to meet the young person in school or when they choose not to be visited in school, we are able to offer a face to face meeting in an outdoor area or a conversation via video call or telephone.
We continue to provide online respite opportunities to young carers and invitations and links to these sessions are sent to you via Parent Mail. Please may I politely remind you all that as per face to face activities, there is a cost incurred by our service for hosting online activities so please ensure your child attends if you have signed them up for a session. Current Government guidance does permit our service to offer face to face respite activities. However, we have taken the decision as a team to put this on hold as we feel the priority needs to be to support young people back into education and to help families navigate the ever evolving information from the Government.
Looking ahead to the October half term, we are planning a limited range of face to face activities to run alongside our online respite offer. These activities I know you will appreciate can only be accessed by a limited number of individuals so will not be made available to all.
