Suffolk Family Carers is a respected charity that is passionate about creating solutions to meet the needs of family carers of all ages. We provide a range of services to support adult, young adult and young carers across Suffolk.

We support young carers aged 5-15, and are looking to recruit enthusiastic, proactive and driven Young Carer Advisers. The successful candidates will enable young carers and their families to overcome some of the challenges they face. Two of our posts (1 and 3) will predominantly be working with young people aged 9-15 and with other professionals in schools and social care. Post 2 will predominately be working with young people aged 5-11 and with other professionals in schools and social care. A real ability to engage with young people and families in a creative, objective and solution focussed way will be key to the success of this role.

Excellent relationship building skills are required to ensure a holistic package of support for young carers. In addition, we provide monthly respite clubs across the county and one off respite activities during school holidays. You will need to be motivated about enabling young people to develop their self-confidence and independence, as well as have the ability to work innovatively to ensure support is engaging and age appropriate.

You will need to have excellent organisation and planning skills together with the ability to lead activities for young people, their families and schools. You will be required to travel to locations across Suffolk and be available for early evening and occasional weekend working.

There is flexibility around working hours as well as an attractive pension scheme. Suffolk Family Carers is located on a rural business park, easily accessible from the A14 and 4 miles from Ipswich.

As we have three opportunities to join the team, please ensure when completing your supporting statement you include which of the above roles you would like to apply for.

Interested? We would like to hear from you.
